President's Message, Winter 2009/2010

A MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT OF THE SCIOI:

I would like to take this opportunity to wish all members an extremely happy new year and with great hope for our country to return to a more prosperous economy in the coming year.

We had the annual business meeting November 21st, in Temecula (picture below). Topics of discussion were: Our Statewide Meet in Palm Springs (May 6,7,8,and 9, 2010), The shrinking of the clubs membership, The web site, The BBQ in Palm Springs (hosted by me on January 9, 2010 (flyer is in the mail), and Imperial artwork that will be displayed at the 2010 BBQ (You will be able to special order art of your own car). For the shrinking of the clubs' membership, an idea was to place a copy of the current membership form or to copy the one on the web site, in the glove compartments of your Imperials. Then when some one comes up and admires your lovely Imperial, you can give them a pitch and hand them a membership form to fill out and send in. THERE is no need for them to own one of these great cars to join, just the love of them, the purchase can come later. So I'm asking all members, if they have a printer, to copy the membership form and place it in your glove compartment or the door pocket, THANK YOU very much.

Our club has suffered a great loss of very active, long time club members, over the past two years. We lost Bernice Hackney last year, Dick Kretschmer earlier this year (Juanita is still in a home after her stroke), then Denis Lardner (our hearts are with Martha) and now very recently Charlene Quinn has passed. These were very LONG time members loved by all; one might say they were the soul of the SCIOI and the IOANC. It is with my sincerest regards as the President of the SCIOI and on behalf of the club members to give my condolences to the families of these VERY LOVED and now very missed members. Our thoughts and prayers are with Dick and Nancy Benjamin during these trying days with Dick's health issues, "get well soon Dick", our hearts are with you both.

I am taking this occasion to remind every member to pay his or her dues for 2010 (a form and return envelope are in the mail), thank you. This is your club and we all enjoy these wonderful Imperials, so lets keep energy and the spirit alive with our participation in all the club events, from the blast off BBQ at the beginning of the year, then the STATEWIDE MEET, the ANNUAL PICNIC, to the ANNUAL MEETING at the end of the year. With Mark Johnson as our tour official, he comes up with an exciting event every SUMMER for us to attend. This year promises to be a wonderful surprise.

I thank every member from NORTH to SOUTH for there spirited involvement in these wonderful cars and lets have a great year for 2010.
